\u00e9tait inf\u00e9rieur \u00e0 1\u00a0million de dollars et il a \u00e9t\u00e9 vers\u00e9 pour une Shelby GT350 1965 en 2012, lors d\u2019une autre vente aux ench\u00e8res.<br \/>\nOn est loin aussi des 330\u00a0000\u00a0$ vers\u00e9s en septembre 2012 pour une GT500 1967 transform\u00e9e en r\u00e9plique de la Super Snake, un montant sans doute gonfl\u00e9 par le d\u00e9c\u00e8s de Carroll Shelby, qui avait eu lieu quelques mois plus t\u00f4t.<br \/>\nLa v\u00e9ritable Super Snake a devanc\u00e9 une autre Mustang c\u00e9l\u00e8bre, qui \u00e9tait \u00e9galement offerte lors de la vente de Mecum \u00e0 Indianapolis\u00a0: la tr\u00e8s convoit\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0Eleanor\u00a0\u00bb, la vedette \u00e0 quatre roues du film <i>Gone in 60 Seconds<\/i> de 2000. Un autre collectionneur en a fait l\u2019acquisition pour la somme de 1,1\u00a0million de dollars.<br \/>\nLa Super Snake a vu le jour en 1967 dans la foul\u00e9e d\u2019un programme de promotion unissant Shelby et Goodyear, qui cherchait un outil de promotion pour une nouvelle gamme de pneus grand public appel\u00e9s Thunderbolt.<br \/>\nCarroll Shelby avait offert au fabricant de pneus une Shelby GT500. Son ancien directeur des Ventes, Don McCain, lui souffla \u00e0 l\u2019oreille l\u2019id\u00e9e de l\u2019\u00e9quiper d\u2019un moteur plus puissant\u00a0: le V8 de 7,0 litres (427\u00a0po cu) utilis\u00e9 dans la Ford GT40 Mk\u00a0II victorieuse aux 24 Heures du Mans.<br \/>\nLa GT500 portant le num\u00e9ro de s\u00e9rie 544 re\u00e7u donc un V8 similaire \u00e0 celui de la GT40, une bo\u00eete de vitesses et un essieu arri\u00e8re sp\u00e9ciaux, de m\u00eame que des pneus Thunderbolt. McCain pensait pouvoir en vendre 50.<br \/>\nForte de ses 600\u00a0ch, la Super Snake pouvait atteindre une vitesse de pointe de 274\u00a0km\/h. Lors d\u2019une d\u00e9monstration informelle associ\u00e9e au lancement des pneus Thunderbolt, la voiture parcourut m\u00eame 800\u00a0km \u00e0 une vitesse moyenne de 229\u00a0km\/h.<br \/>\nCependant, malgr\u00e9 ces prestations largement publicis\u00e9es dans la presse sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e, peu d\u2019int\u00e9ress\u00e9s se manifest\u00e8rent, sans doute \u00e0 cause du prix \u00e9lev\u00e9 annonc\u00e9 (le double du prix d\u2019une GT500 ordinaire).
